New Orleans Brass News Release

Wednesday July 10, 2002 - The Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League have confirmed that former Brass left wing and Predators prospect Alexandre Krevsun has died in Russia after suffering a brain hemorrhage during a preseason workout with a team in Samara, Russia.

Krevsun, 22, collapsed about halfway through a 10-kilometer cross-country run. He was pronounced dead approximately two hours later. Krevsun had passed a physical on July 1 with the Russian club, CSK Samara. According to the International Ice Hockey Federation, extremely hot weather may have been a factor in Krevsun's death.

Krevsun was born July 2, 1980 in Togliatti, Russia. He leaves behind a wife and a young daughter.

"We are terribly saddened by Alex's death," states Brass Vice President/General Manager Dan Belisle. "The Brass organization expresses its deepest sympathies to the Krevsun family."

Krevsun played 48 games for the Brass in the 2000-2001 season. He posted eight goals and 13 assists for a total of 21 points. He also played one game for the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League. Krevsun was drafted by the Predators in the fourth round (124th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. He signed with Nashville, but was released September 16, 2001.
