Florida Everblades News Release
Estero, FL - The Florida Everblades President/GM Craig Brush announced today that forward Tom Nelson has been signed by the Everblades for the 2002-03 season. Nelson (6'0" 190) was originally signed last March by Florida after completing a four year career at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He saw action in six regular season games and registered 1 goal and 2 assists for 3 points. The Superior, Wisconsin native also played in two playoff games. Nelson ranked 24th in the WCHA in regular season scoring last season with 11-23-34 in 37 contests. He was named as the WCHA offensive player of the week on December 10th. Nelson joins defenseman Lee Ruff as the two players the Everblades have under contract so far for the 2002-03 season. Florida opens training camp on October 1st when the team begins it's fifth season in Southwest Florida.
Everblades President/GM Craig Brush feels Nelson can bring scoring and grit up front for the Everblades, "We are excited to bring Tom back this season. The experience he gained last season in the few games he played with us will help him immeasurably. His mental toughness and work ethic will be an asset to this year's hockey club."
