Everblades to Play South Carolina in Southeast Division Wild Card Game

The Florida Everblades defeated the Augusta Lynx in a shootout on Sunday night to advance to the 2002 Kelly Cup playoffs. Florida and Augusta each finished the regular season with 82 points each but the Everblades held the tiebreaker in number of wins with 37 to Augusta's 36. The Everblades will play the South Carolina Stingrays in the single elimination Southeast Division Wild Card game on Tuesday night in South Carolina at 7:00 PM. Due to a scheduling conflict at the North Charleston Coliseum, the game will be played in the Stingrays practice facility. The winner of the game will play the Greenville Grrrowl in a best-of-five first round series beginning on Thursday and Friday night in Greenville. If the Everblades win Tuesday, they will host the Grrrowl at TECO Arena on Sunday, April 7th at 7:00 PM and if necessary on Monday April 8th at 7:00 PM. The Everblades have qualified for the post season in each of their four years in Southwest Florida. All 72 regular season games and playoff games can be heard on Sportsradio 770 AM, 98.9 FM and on the Internet at www.floridaeverblades.com with the "Voice of the Everblades" Mark Miller calling the play-by-play. The pre-game show begins 15 minutes prior to face-off.

GAME NOTES: The Everblades and Stingrays will meet for the eighth time this season in the Southeast Division Wild Card Game. Florida holds a 5-2-0 record against the Stingrays this season. The Everblades defeated the Stingrays in overtime and a shootout at TECO Arena on March 1st and 2nd . The Everblades are 3-1-0 at TECO and 2-1-0 in South Carolina this season. The Everblades are 18-6-4 All-Time versus the Stingrays. They are 10-2-3 at TECO Arena and 8-4-0 in South Carolina. The Stingrays finished the 2001-02 regular season in fourth place in the ECHL's Southeast Division with a record of 39-26-7. Forward Dave Seitz lead the Stingrays in scoring with 44-54-98 during the regular season. Seitz finished the season in second place on the ECHL's scoring list. His 44 goals lead the ECHL. Their power play ranks 2nd and their penalty kill ranks 9th. South Carolina is 7-3-0 in their last ten games. They fell to the Greenville Grrrowl 3-1 to end the regular season this past Saturday night.

The Pee Dee Pride defeated the Florida Everblades 6-1 at the Florence Civic Center on Friday night.

Saturday, March 30th @ Pee Dee 2-3 SOL

Aaron Gates scored in the sixth round of the shootout to give the Pee Dee Pride a 3-2 victory over the Florida Everblades.

Saturday, March 23rd vs. Louisiana 2-1 SOW

The Florida Everblades season came down to a shootout, and the Everblades scored on all four shots as Randy Petruk stopped two of the four Augusta shooters to propel the Everblades into the post season. Duane Harmer was credited with the game-winning goal. The Everblades finish the season with a record of 37-27-8 and will play the South Carolina Stingrays in the one game play-in on Tuesday night.
