The Titans (46-16-10) finished the 2001-02 regular season with the top record in the Northern Conference for the second straight season. Only Louisiana (116) finished with a higher point total. The Titans registered back-to-back 100-point seasons, and also lost fewer than 10 road contests for the second consecutive year (21-9-6). They also tied a franchise mark with 25 home wins for the second time in as many seasons.

The Titans and Roanoke meet in a post-season series for the first time beginning tomorrow night at Sovereign Bank Arena. The Titans dominated the regular season series with a 7-1 advantage and a 4-0 mark at home. Scott Bertoli paced the Titans with 16 points (6 goals, 10 assists) in eight games while Matt Zultek, Marco Charpentier and Steve O'Brien each had seven points. Dan Carney netted all three of his game winning goals with the Titans against the Express. Former Titan Rick Kowalsky had five goals and nine points to lead the Express.
Murphy Finishes Tied For League Lead With Career High Win Total:
Goaltender Dan Murphy capped his career best season with a 42-save performance in a 3-2 win at Atlantic City on Saturday night. He notched his 30th win of the season and finished tied for the ECHL lead in victories with Alex Westlund (Cincinnati) and Jayme Platt (Greenville). Murphy was named Goaltender of the Week twice (October 10-14, February 4-10) and garnered Goalie of the Month honors for February. He set the bar with a franchise record scoreless streak of 209:36, and was the second Titans' goaltender in as many seasons with 30 or more victories.
Bertoli Sets Franchise Record For Assists And Points In A Season:
Left wing Scott Bertoli finished the regular season with franchise records in assists (46) and points (71). He netted a pair of short-handed tallies in the Titans' 5-2 win over Atlantic City last Friday night to raise his career high goal total to 25. Bertoli was clutch in the big games including the week of March 18-24, when he notched seven points (3 goals, 4 assists) in helping the Titans to a 3-0 record. In a 7-3 win over second place Charlotte, Bertoli netted his fourth game-winner of the season to go along with an assist and a +2 rating. Then in the first of back-to-back home games against Roanoke, he and line mates Marco Charpentier and Matt Zultek each netted a goal, two assists and a +3 rating in a 5-0 win. The following night, Bertoli scored a power play goal and added an assist in the 4-1 win over the Express. He is also the Titans all-time leader in games played with 206.
O'Brien Sets Franchise Point Mark For Defensemen, And Plus/Minus Mark:
Defenseman Steve O'Brien finished a stellar regular season with a career best in assists (42) and points (51). Both are also Titans' franchise records among blue liners. He also finished with a franchise record +37 rating shattering the old mark of +29 set by Jed Whitchurch during the inaugural 1999-2000 season. O'Brien finished third in plus/minus, and fourth in assists and points this season among ECHL defensemen.
