THE WEEK AHEAD

The inaugural ECHL campaign ended without a playoff berth for the Whoopee.

LAST WEEK

The Whoopee went 0-2-0, losing to both Augusta and Columbus at home.

Friday 3/29 Augusta 4 MACON 2

In Macon, Augusta scored three straight goals to offset the Whoopee's early 1-0 lead, then held off Macon in the third period for the win. Jarrett Thompson and Luke Murphy tallied for the Whoopee, while Wes Mason scored a pair for the Lynx, including one that appeared to be kicked in. With both Macon goaltenders injured, emergency back-up Rick Nichol kept the Whoopee in the game with 33 saves.

Saturday 3/30 Columbus 3 MACON 1

In Macon, the Cottonmouths scored late in the second period and early in the third to break a 1-1 tie. Tommy Stewart, a former Whoopee from the CHL days who signed on to play the final two games of this season, scored the Whoopee goal. Macon G Chris Madden stopped 28 shots.

NOTES

TOMMY STEWART RETURNS

A Whoopee in the CHL days, Tommy Stewart returned as an ECHL Whoopee this past weekend, and scored a goal Saturday night.

NOT THE PLAYOFF PUSH THEY WANTED

The Whoopee finished the season 1-12-4 in its final 17 games, with the lone victory coming on 3/22 at Mobile.
