Tigers Select Mrsic in 1st Round

Medicine Hat, AB - The Medicine Hat Tigers had the 8th overall selection in today's WHL Prospect Draft, the highest the Tigers have selected since the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft.

With that pick, the Tigers selected Centre Tomas Mrsic. Mrsic who hails from Surrey, British Columbia is currently playing for Delta Hockey Academy U17 Prep where the 5'10 centre has put up 58 points (27G, 31A) in only 16 games in the CSSHL. Tomas has been seen as one of the best forwards in this age group. He is a playmaker with incredible vision and he can put the puck in the net. His compete level is elite and he thrives in pressure situations.

Tigers Director of Player Personnel Bobby Fox says "Tomas is a dynamic offensive forward with great vision and an he has an excellent release. He is a very intelligent player that can support at both ends of the ice and does a lot of the little things really well. We're excited to select Tomas and watch his development."

Tomas is thrilled to be drafted by the Orange and Black, "I am very excited to be drafted to Medicine Hat. Having an NHL experienced head coach means a lot to me. I can't wait to put that jersey on, join the Tigers and meet the fans!".

Mrsic is eligible to sign a Standard WHL Player Agreement and to suit up for the team this season, if management feels he is ready to make that step.
