Head Coach Desjardins Reaches 500 Career WHL Victories

January 13, 2025 - Willie Desjardins is the 12th coach in Western Hockey League history to hit the 500-win plateau following a decisive 8-1 victory over the Red Deer Rebels Friday night. Desjardins, 67, got his WHL coaching career started with a stint as the interim Head Coach of the Saskatoon Blades during the 1997-98 season. Hailing from Climax, Sask., Desjardins tallied the first 10 wins of his WHL career in 1998, before moving on to become the head coach for Canada's men's national team. Tigers Strike Oil Against Edmonton

January 11, 2025 - Just over seven minutes into the first period, Bryce Pickford found himself on the receiving end of a hit and picked up a four-minute roughing penalty, giving the Oil Kings a lengthy power play. The Tigers' penalty kill refused to waver, and Hunter St. Martin sprung loose on a 2-on-0 rush with help from Veeti Vaisanen. Tigers' Commanding Victory Marks Desjardins' 500th Win

January 10, 2025 - After a back-and-forth first 13 minutes, the Tigers finally broke through when Ryder Ritchie carried the puck into the Rebels zone and spun to find a streaking Bryce Pickford. Pickford stepped into the slot and ripped a shot past Chase Wutzke, extending his league lead in goals by a defenseman to 18 and putting the Tigers up 1-0.
