Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - Everett Silvertips forward Michal Gut has officially been named to the Czech Republic preliminary roster ahead of the 2022 World Junior Championship.

Gut, an '02-born native of Kadan, is currently tied for the team lead in scoring with 27 points through 20 games played. He has been a dynamic offensive presence for the Silvertips, with nine of his 22 assists on the season coming on the powerplay.

This is the second time that Gut has been listed on the Czech Republic World Junior Championship roster, having skated in three games at last year's tournament. Gut was also captain of the Czech U-17 team at the World Hockey Challenge in 2018-19.

Gut becomes the third Everett Silvertips player to be listed on a World Juniors roster, with Ronan Seeley and Olen Zellweger named to Hockey Canada's Selection Camp roster. Silvertips head coach and general manager Dennis Williams will serve as an assistant coach for Hockey Canada.

Making his WHL debut in 2019-20, Gut was named the Silvertips' Rookie of the Year accumulating 13 goals and 23 assists in 51 games in his first season. He spent the 2020-21 campaign in the Czech Republic, amassing 21 points in 20 games with HC Banik Sokolov in Czech2.

The 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship begins on Boxing Day with the Czech Republic kicking off its tournament schedule against Canada. The Czech Republic will then play Germany on Dec. 27, Finland on Dec. 29 and Austria on Dec. 30.
