Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - A pair of powerplay goals from Niko Huuhtanen sent the Silvertips surging past the Rockets for a 5-3 win at Angel of the Winds Arena on Wednesday night.

Jackson Berezowski opened the scoring for the Silvertips, slipping a backhander past Kelowna netminder Talyn Boyko for his 17th goal of the season. The goal earned Berezowski his 100th career Western Hockey League point, with 53 goals and 47 assists.

The Rockets would answer late in the first period, as a turnaround shot from the board by Max Graham found the back of the net to even the score. In the second period, Kelowna grabbed a 2-1 lead thanks to a shorthanded penalty shot goal from Pavel Novak. Everett knotted the game at two just 1:22 after the penalty shot, as Ben Hemmerling fed Ryan Hofer for his seventh goal of the season.

Forty-three seconds later, Austin Roest scored in his return to the lineup after missing six games with an upper-body injury to give the Silvertips back the lead. Minutes later, Niko Huuhtanen blasted a one-timer home for a powerplay goal.

Max Graham would cut the Everett lead to one, but Huuhtanen's second goal of the game- again a one-timer on the man advantage- put the game out of reach.

Braden Holt stopped 25 of 28 in his 10th win of the season.
