Medicine Hat Tigers goaltender Garin Bjorklund and defenceman Rhett Parsons vs. the Regina Pats
(Medicine Hat Tigers)
The Tigers finished their short, midweek road trip with a game against the Regina Pats. It was only their second meeting of the season and their first at the Brandt Centre in Regina. The Pats took the first game in Medicine Hat 6-2 with Cole Carrier leading the way with a hat trick.
Connor Bedard opened the scoring with 6:28 remaining in the first period with this 13th of the season. He tried to make a cross crease pass to a teammate but the puck went in off a Tiger defender.
Bedard would find the back of the net again early in the second period to give the Pats a 2-0 lead. Tanner Howe found Bedard charging towards the net with a pass that he put away on the backhand. The Tigers would claw back and cut the deficit to one while on the power play late in the middle frame. Noah Danielson buried a rebound from a wide one timer that bounced off the back boards. Lukas Svejkovsky and Daniel Baker picked up the helpers on Danielson's sixth of the season.
The Pats would reinstate their two goal lead 1:35 into the third while on a power play of their own. Borya Valis had an easy tap in off a fanned one timer that trickled to the side of the net. Time was ticking down in the third but Noah Danielson and the Tigers power play struck again. Danielson let a laser beam go from the right faceoff dot that beat the Pats netminder. Daniel Baker and Owen MacNeil grabbed the assists on the power play marker. The Tigers continued to battle hard looking for the tying goal and decided to go with the extra skater. Unfortunately, the Pats were able to score on the empty net to secure the 4-2 victory. Cole Carrier scored his ninth of the year into the yawning cage.
Garin Bjorklund (2-11-2-0) got the start in net for the Tigers. He saved 35 of the 38 shots he faced.
