Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release
MOOSIC, PA - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, have had two players selected for the 2018 Triple-A All-Star Game, which will be played on July 11 at Huntington Park in Columbus, Ohio. Pitcher Cody Carroll and infielder Brandon Drury have been picked as reserves for the International League's squad.
The 31st edition of this All-Star Game pits the International League All-Stars against the top players from the Pacific Coast League.
Carroll, 25, is 3-0 this season with a 2.76 earned run average and a team-best seven saves. The reliever was selected by New York in the 22nd round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft from the University of Southern Mississippi. 2018 marks Carroll's first year in Triple-A. The right-hander has 44 strikeouts over 32.1 innings pitched this season and has held opposing batters to a .202 average against.
Drury, 25, is batting .311 with four home runs and 27 runs batted in. The infielder was acquired by the Yankees from the Arizona Diamondbacks in February as part of a three-team trade. After hitting .438 in April and .290 for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in May, Drury is batting .302 over 23 games this month and leads the RailRiders with a .400 on-base percentage in June. He set a new RailRiders mark earlier this month by reaching safely in his 32nd straight game.
The 2018 Triple-A All-Star game will start at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, and will be featured on the MLB Network and on MiLB.tv. The radio broadcast will be available locally on NEPA Sports Radio, the RailRiders home radio network, and on the TuneIn Radio app.
