LAST TIME OUT: Rey Navarro delivered a home run in Monday's loss for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Tuesday night he just missed a homer in the 8th inning, but as the ball hit the top of the wall and fell on the warning track next to Alexi Amarista, Tyler Austin stomped on home plate to break a 2-2 tie in a 3-2 win.

The inning began off Brandon Leibrandt with a single and a walk before Zack Zehner advanced both runners with a sacrifice bunt to set up Bruce Caldwell's game-tying RBI groundout. With two outs, that set up the heroics for Navarro.

David Hale earned the no-decision after allowing a pair of runs in his outing. In the bottom of the 4th inning, the IronPigs began the inning with three straight hits after having only collected one hit over the first three innings against Hale. The veteran responded by minimizing the damage in the inning and tossing a scoreless 5th inning to keep the game within reach for his offense.

The offense rallied for its first run of the night in the top of the 5th inning with a pair of singles from Navarro and L.J. Mazzilli, culminating in a Tyler Wade RBI groundout two batters later. The RailRiders bullpen was outstanding down the stretch in back of Hale. Cale Coshow tossed a scoreless 6th inning before turning the baseball over to Tommy Kahnle in the 7th inning. The righty needed 20 pitches, but he earned the win when SWB jumped ahead in the 8th inning. Joe Harvey hadn't pitched since June 21st, but he entered with the opportunity to notch a six-out save. He retired all six batters he faced including blowing away Amarista with a strikeout to end the game.

NEEDING SOME LENGTH: Due to Monday's off-day, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders bullpen was well-rested entering Tuesday's game even though the pitching staff has not been able to provide much depth at the start of games. LHP Josh Rogers is the one pitcher who has consistently given SWB starts that save the bullpen. This season, Rogers has gone 6.0+ innings in 10-of-15 (66.7%) of his starts, while the rest of the team has just 11 such starts in the other 60 games (18.3%).

CAN'T QUITE GET THERE: Over the 15 games, the RailRiders own a 10-5 record to bring them up to 4th place in the I.L. North standings. The RailRiders left Rochester, N.Y. Sunday afternoon following a suspended game, having not lost any of their last four series. Entering Wednesday night's game, the RailRiders will try and draw themselves back to .500 for the first time since being 19-19 May 17 (Game No. 38).

PUTTING OUT FIRES: The RailRiders continue to get a strong performance out of its bullpen over the last week-plus. In 8G since June 17, the bullpen arms not named Giovanny Gallegos have combined for 20.2 IP, 7 H, 2R/2ER (0.87 ERA), 5 BB, 22 K (9.6 K/9). Gallegos has struggled over his last three appearances, allowing runs in all 3G: 4.2 IP, 7 H (7-for-21, .333 BAA), 4R/4ER, 0 BB, 8 K.

POWERING UP: In the blink of an eye, the SWB RailRiders are the leading HR-hitting team in the International League. At the end of April, the team had 15 HR in 23G (0.65 HR/G) which was good for 6th in the 14-team I.L. Since then, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre has 59 HR in its last 51G (1.16 HR/G) including 27 in 23G so far in June (1.17 HR/G).

CONTINUITY: The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders are starting to come together and play as a unit in the month of June (12-10) after sub-.500 records in April and May. Part of that can be attributed to a lower number of roster moves per day than what the team was experiencing at the start of the season. 36 roster moves over 23G in April (1.57/G) // 52 roster moves over 29G in May (1.79/G) // 30 roster moves over 23G in June (1.36/G).
