
Pigs Fall 3-2 After Late Rally

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders battled back to take Game 2 from the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 3-2 Tuesday at Coca-Cola Park. An RBI double by Rey Navarro gave the visitors the winning margin.
Cole Irvin tossed six strong innings for Lehigh Valley, allowing just one run in. He gave up six hits and struck out six including the final four batters he faced. It is the 13th straight start that Irvin has gone at least six-innings and the seventh time this season he has allowed one-or-fewer earned runs.
Irvin left in a position to win the game but was denied a victory as the RailRiders were able to rally against the Pigs' bullpen.
The Pigs offense broke through against RailRiders starter David Hale in the bottom of the fourth. After being limited to just one hit in the first three innings. Mitch Walding led off with a double and was chased home on a RBI single by Trevor Plouffe. Two batters later, Danny Ortiz would hit an RBI ground-rule double by to put the Pigs up 2-0.
The RailRiders' bullpen held the IronPigs hitless in the final four innings to close their first victory at Coca-Cola Park in 2018. Cody Carroll (3) tossed two scoreless frames to close out the ballgame and secure the win for Tommy Kahnle (2-1).
The RailRiders battled back to take the lead in the in the top of the eighth inning against Brandon Leibrandt (4-1), as they plated two runs to pull ahead for the first time in the ballgame.
The Pigs and RailRiders resume the Iron Rail Rivalry series tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. with Drew Anderson on the hill. Before the game, 1,500 kids 17-and-under will receive a Fighting Bacon backpack compliments of LVHN.
The 2018 Season is the IronPigs' 11th season at Coca-Cola Park and 11th as the top affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies.
