
Durham, Charlotte Split Doubleheader

DURHAM, NC - After dropping game one of the day/night doubleheader 5-1, the Durham Bulls used a four-run first inning in the second game to down the Charlotte Knights 5-1 on Wednesday evening at the DBAP.
In game one, the Knights grabbed an early lead with a sacrifice fly by Alex Presley to score Dustin Garneau who reached on a one-out double.
A solo home run by Eloy Jiminez and a three-run long ball by Dustin Garneau put Charlotte in front for good in the fourth inning leading to a 5-1 victory for the Knights.
In game two, Rob Refsnyder reached with a one-out single and scored on a single to left field by Ji-Man Choi to start the scoring in the opening frame 1-0.
Following a walk by Brandon Lowe, Justin Williams doubled off the Blue Monster to score Lowe and Choi. Jason Coats drove in Williams with a line drive single to centerfield extending the lead to 4-0 through the first inning.
The Knights grabbed a run back in the fourth, after a leadoff double from former Bull Patrick Leonard, who later scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of Eddy Alvarez to cut the lead to 4-1.
In the home half of the seventh, Brandon Snyder launched a home run the opposite way, marking his eighth long ball of the year extending the Bulls' lead to 5-1.
Zach Lee (W, 1-1) earned his first victory with the Bulls this season, tossing 7.0 innings, allowing one run on seven hits with four strikeouts. Lee has won his last three decisions between Double-A Montgomery and Durham.
The Bulls open a four-game set on the road against the Norfolk Tides Thursday at 7:05 p.m.
