This Week:

Columbus Saturday, October 19th 7:30 North Charleston Coliseum

The Stingrays are opening at home with the Columbus Cottonmouths. Last season, the Rays enjoyed a record of 2-0-1 against the Cottonmouths. Columbus finished last year in eighth place in the Southeast Division with a record of 24-37-11. The Cottonmouths have a record of 1-1 in two games this season, with a road loss in Columbia and a home win over Florida.

At the Coliseum: The Stingrays will kick off their tenth anniversary season with a 10 year commemorative video and laser show, which will be shown before the game. Each fan in attendance will receive a free poster schedule compliments of Budweiser.

Last Week in Review:

The South Carolina Stingrays won both games last week in dramatic shootout fashion. On Friday, Adam Calder won the game for the Stingrays in the shootout, Joel Irving ended the game on Saturday. Friday night the Stingrays scored three power play goals on the way to a 5-4 victory over Pee Dee. On Saturday, South Carolina scored three goals in the third period to tie the score and knock off the Kelly Cup Champion Greenville Grrrowl 7-6 in a seven round shootout.

Team Notes:

The Stingrays find themselves in a tie for first place in the Southeast with the Florida Everblades (1-0-2). South Carolina scored six power play goals in 20 tries this week, but allowed eight power play goals on 24 penalty kills. The Rays are 2-0 in shootouts this season. A year ago, South Carolina had a record of 6-7 in shootouts. Seven different players have scored goals for the Stingrays this season. The Rays have had 28 minor penalties called against them in two games.

Players:

Dave Seitz leads the Stingrays in goals with three. He also has an assist, which gives him four points in two games this year. Seitz led the league in goals a year ago with 44. Rookie defenseman Aaron Schneekloth leads the Stingrays in points with five. All five of Schneekloth's points are assists. Newcomer Curtis Huppe scored a goal in each game this week and also netted both his attempts in the two shootouts. Kirk Daubenspeck earned both wins this weekend despite a goals against average of 4.62. Andy Powers had two goals against the Greenville Grrrowl on Saturday.
