Bakersfield Condors News Release

Opening Night took place on home ice, with the reigning Taylor Cup Champion Fresno Falcons coming into town to begin their title defense, but it was Condors goaltender Kevin St. Pierre's night. Jeff Goldie got on the board late in the first period for the first Bakersfield goal of the season, and the Condors led 1-0. St. Pierre held the game close, stopping 28 shots through the first 40 minutes, until Paul Willett extended the lead with a pair of power play goals. Willett later set up Paul Rosebush for an empty net goal to seal the deal and St. Pierre ended up with 35 saves on the night. With the 4-0 shutout, all fans in attendance received a four-pack of Krispy Kreme Donuts with their ticket stub.
