Friday, October 11, 2002 Roanoke Express 3 @ ATLANTIC CITY BOARDWALK BULLIES 4 (shootout)
Friday the Boardwalk Bullies defeated the Roanoke Express, 4-3, in a shootout. Down 3-2 at the end of the second period, Bullies left wing Luke Curtin tied the game with 11 seconds remaining in regulation. After a scoreless overtime period, Jade Galbraith defeated Express goalie Evan Lindsay on the first Bullies attempted penalty shot, securing the victory after Scott Stirling turned aside four Roanoke shots. Stirling finished the game with 23 saves. All three Roanoke goals came on the power play, while Stefan Rivard tallied the lone power-play goal in 12 opportunities for the Bullies. One hundred twelve penalty minutes were handed out, including three 10-minute misconducts. The Bullies are 2-0-0 in season openers since relocating to Atlantic City last year.
From Shootout to Shutout

What a difference a day makes. After earning two points in the shootout victory Friday, the Bullies showed no mercy to the visiting Richmond Renegades Saturday. After two scoreless periods, the Bullies kicked it up a notch, netting three goals and keeping the 'Gades off the scoreboard. Ryan Mougenel opened the scoring with the game-winning tally 31 seconds into the final frame. Rookie and Los Angeles Kings draft pick Jim Henkel registered his first of the season at 5:04. Kevin Colley, who spent the majority of the second half of last season with the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League, scored his first of the year off a pass from Luke Curtin. Paul Spadafora finished the game with two helpers, while netminder Scott Stirling earned his first shutout of the season, turning aside all 35 Richmond shots.
BULLIES BITES
Luke Curtin leads the team with three points (1G,2A)...Newcomer Carl Corazzini leads the team in plus-minus with a +3...Scott Stirling has a 1.45 goals against average, a .951 save percentage, and a 2-0-0 record...Rookie forward Jim Henkel has two points (1G,1A) and is a +2 in two games thus far.
