
Royals Begin Season with Pair of 7-3 Decisions

The Reading Royals opened the season this week with a pair of 7-3 decisions. Friday, the Royals dominated the Wheeling Nailers 7-3 behind standout performances by Brian McCullough, Jeff Giuliano and Brad Rooney. McCullough picked up the first hat trick in team history, while Giuliano registered five assists which is a new Royals record in a game. Sunday afternoon the Royals awaited Northeast Division foe Trenton to come to town. Trenton took game one of ten in the season series, 7-3. The Titans blew the game open in the third period scoring two goals less than a minute apart to take a 5-3 lead. This week the Royals have four games, two at home and two on the road. The Royals will host Greensboro and Atlantic City, while traveling to Trenton twice to battle the Titans.

Wednesday, October 16 vs. Greensboro Sovereign Center 7:05PM
GAME NOTES: The Reading Royals meet the Greensboro Generals for the first of six meetings this season. The Royals posted a 3-3-1 mark last year against the Generals. Ironically, Reading was 1-3-1 in the Sovereign Center and 2-0-0 on the road in Greensboro. Reading had a record setting game on January 16, 2002 where they posted a franchise high 10 goals.
Friday, October 18 @ Trenton Sovereign Bank Arena 7:00PM
GAME NOTES: The Titans took meeting one in this series last Sunday in the Sovereign Center in Reading. The Royals are now 3-7-0 all-time on Sundays. BJ Kilbourne (2g) and John Nail (1g, 1a, SH) led the way with two points. The Royals will meet again in Trenton this Sunday (Comcast TV).
Saturday, October 19 vs. Atlantic City Sovereign Center 7:05PM
GAME NOTES: Another key Northeast Division battle...The Royals and Bullies will tangle eight times this season. The Royals are 3-4-1 lifetime against Atlantic City. Luke Curtin has had the Royals number, picking up seven goals and 12 points in just seven appearances.
Sunday, October 20 @ Trenton Sovereign Bank Arena 3:00PM
GAME NOTES: Alex Kim was a bright spot in game one of this regular season series a week ago. Kim got his first two goals of the young season, while also picking up an assist. The Royals are now 2-8-1 all-time against the Titans. The Titans have outscored the Royals in the third period 17-8 dating back to last season.

GAME NOTES: The Royals opened the season on a high note. Reading exploded for seven goals, including three on the power play and one shorthanded to knock off the Wheeling Nailers. Reading outshot the Nailers 46-21 in the game. Brian McCullough (3g, 1a), Brad Rooney (2g, 2a) and Jeff Giuliano (5a) combined for 13 points in the victory.
Sunday, October 13 vs. Trenton Sovereign Center 2:05PM
GAME NOTES: The Royals dropped their first decision of the 2002-03 season. Reading ran into a brick wall in net in the form of David St. Germain. St. Germain turned away 33 Royals shots out of 36 attempts to pick up a 7-3 win for his team. Trenton added two power play goals and one shorthanded tally, plus two empty net goals. The Titans and Royals will meet two more times this week in Trenton.
