 Toledo's 4-3 win over the Peoria Rivermen on Friday was, naturally, the first victory for Claude Noel as the head coach for the Storm. That marks the 439th regular season professional victory as either a head or assistant coach for Head Coach Noel.

 The opening game win for Toledo was also the first professional victory for goaltender, Brian Finley, who stopped 32 of the 36 shots he faced.

 In Toledo's 4-3 win over Peoria, four different players scored for Toledo: Alexandre Jacques, Wes Mason, Erik Anderson and Nick Parillo.

 In Friday's victory, two Storm players had multiple point performances: Erik Anderson (1g-2a=3pts) and Alexandre Jacques (1g-1a=2pts), both of whom assisted on the game winning goal by Nick Parillo at 5:02 of the third period, which broke a 3-3 tie.

 The Storm's first goal of the season was scored by Alexandre Jacques, while the Storm was on the power play, at 3:18 of the first period. Jacques also had an assist on the game winning goal by Nick Parillo at 5:02 of third period with the score tied at three. In Saturday night's 5-4 overtime loss in Johnstown, Jacques picked up an assist, so he has picked up essentially where he left off last year when he racked up at least one point in 40 of his last 52 games of the season.

 The Storm scored on their first power play opportunity of the season, when Alexandre Jacques scored at 3:18 of the first period in the 4-3 win over the Peoria Rivermen. In that game the Storm went 1-9 overall with the man advantage.

 The Storm had three separate opportunities with a two-skater advantage in Friday's win, but was unable to score on any of those five-on-three sequences.

 In Friday's win, the Storm also provided the Peoria Rivermen with three separate chances with a two-skater advantage, but the Rivermen were likewise unable to score any five-on-three goals.

 Toledo gave up a short-handed goal in Friday's game just 16 seconds into the third period. Last season, the Storm gave up 15 short-handed goals, which was more than any other ECHL team in 2001-02.

 The Storm gave up two early-period goals on Friday night. In addition to the short-hander by Peoria's Tyler Rennette 16 seconds into the third period, the Rivermen also scored 47 seconds into the second period, when Randy Rowe scored his second goal of the game.

 Nick Parillo's goal at 5:02 of the third period on Friday night turned out to be the game winning goal. Although that was not Parillo's first goal as a pro--he scored three in four games with Trenton last season--that was his first game winning goal as a professional.

 Parillo also scored a goal and picked up an assist in Saturday night's 5-4 overtime loss in Johnstown. Including his four games in Trenton last season, Parillo now has six points (5g-1a=6pts) in six total ECHL games.

 For the second consecutive night, the Storm had four separate goal scorers in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss in Johnstown (Jeff Mitchell, Nick Parillo, Matt Ellis, and Wes Mason). Two of those players, Parillo and Mason, scored in both of the first two games.

 Jeff Mitchell had a multi-point performance on Saturday night (1g-1a=2pts). Mitchell also had an assist in Friday night's 4-3 win over Peoria. Including the six games that Mitchell played with Toledo last season (3g-3a=6pts in 6 games), Mitchell now has 9 points (4g-5a=9pts) in 8 total games in a Storm uniform.

 Matt Ellis scored his first goal as a professional (while Toledo was trailing 4-2 and on the power play) at 17:34 of the third period, beginning a comeback that would earn the Storm a point in the standings.

 On Saturday night, the Storm capitalized on one of the team's seven power play chances. For the season, the Storm is now two for sixteen with the man advantage (12.5% scoring ratio).

 Johnstown went 1 for 3 with the man advantage on Saturday night. Overall this season, Toledo has killed ten of the twelve power play chances that the first two opponents have had (83.33% kill ratio).

 Wes Mason scored with just 18 seconds remaining (and an extra attacker on the ice) in the third period to tie Saturday night's game against Johnstown at four. Mason also scored a late-period goal in Toledo's first game of the season (4-3 win over Peoria), bagging a goal with just with just 1:02 remaining in the first period to make the score 2-1 Toledo.

 Toledo's game-tying goal with just 18 seconds remaining in the game came with the team's goaltender, Doug Teskey, pulled and the sixth attacker on the ice. That is the first sixth-attacker goal of the season for the Storm.

 Five players for the Storm picked up at least one point in both of the first two games of the season: Erik Anderson (1g-3a=4pts); Nick Parillo (2g-1a=3pts); Alexandre Jacques (1g-2a=3pts); Jeff Mitchell (1g-2a=3pts); and Wes Mason (2g-0a=2pts).

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Nick Parillo (2g-1a=3pts, 1gwg, +2, 9 shots) Nick Parillo started his first full season as pro in the right way. He scored his first professional game winning goal at 5:02 of the third period with the scored tied at three in Friday night's 4-3 victory over Peoria. In Saturday's game, Nick scored a critical goal at 5:42 of the third period to bring the Storm within one (at 3-2), and then he picked up the lone assist in the dramatic goal with just 18 seconds remaining in the game to tie the score at four and send it to overtime.

GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK: Brian Finley (1-0-0, 3.00 gaa, .917) Goaltender Brian Finley also started out his pro career in a positive manner this weekend. He made 33 stops on 36 shots in the Storm's 4-3 victory over the Peoria Rivermen on Friday night. Finley used poise and positioning to preserve the Storm win, despite sustained pressure from the Rivermen in some late power play opportunities.
