Royals Remain Unbeaten in Regulation

Reading Royals News Release


The Royals remained unbeaten in regulation through week two of the season. The Royals took three of a possible four points against division foe Toledo in Oho over the weekend. Six different Reading scorers tallied their first goals of the season over the weekend. Toledo nipped Reading Friday night in the Sports Arena 5-4 in a shootout. The Royals rebounded Saturday beating Toledo 5-2.

Reading will play three games this week. The Royals host Wheeling for the first time this season on Halloween Friday night in the Jungle. Saturday, Reading travels to Johnstown for the first meeting of the battle of Pennsylvania – Keystone Cup. Sunday the Royals finish the week in Wheeling against the Nailers.

LAST WEEK

Friday, October 24 @ Toledo Toledo Sports Arena 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: The first meeting between these two Northern Division teams. Toledo edged Reading 5-4 n a shootout in the old Sports Arena in Toledo. Reading got goals from four different Royals. Toledo overcame a 3-1 deficit to send the game into overtime. Captain Wes Mason had two goals including a shorthanded tally to lead the Storm. Rookie netminder Drew MacIntyre stopped all three Reading shooters he faced in the shootout.

Saturday, October 25 @ Toledo Toledo Sports Arena 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: The Royals rebounded from Friday with a convincing 5-2 win. Reading jumped out to a 5-0 lead late n the second period on goals by David Masse, Peter Hay (2), and Kent Davyduke (2). Reading out shot Toledo in the game 39-17. Adam Hauser picked up his third win of the season stopping 15 shots.

Friday, October 31 vs. Wheeling Sovereign Center 7:05PM

GAME NOTES: The Royals enjoyed stellar play against the Wheeling Nailers last season posting a perfect 6-0-0 record. The Royals and Nailers will meet nine times this season with Reading hosting four battles.

Saturday, November 1 @ Johnstown War Memorial 7:00PM

GAME NOTES: These two teams have enjoyed home ice in the past two seasons. In 2001-02 Johnstown dominated Reading on home ice winning all five contests. Last year, the Royals changed that trend going 2-1-0 in Johnstown and posted a 3-1-1 record overall. Reading is 5-6-2 all-time versus the Chiefs.

Sunday, November 2 @ Wheeling Wheeling Civic Center 6:00PM

GAME NOTES: This is the second meeting in three days between the Royals and Nailers and first game in Wheeling. Overall the Royals have posted a record of 9-3-1 against the Nailers. The Royals and Nailers will not meet again until January 9 in Wheeling.

The Royals super rookie is off to a sensational start. Masse has registered a point in every Royals game this year. He picked up his first professional goal last Saturday in Toledo on the power play. Masse leads all rookies in assists and scoring. Currently he is the leading scorer for the Royals with nine points.

Adam Hauser 2GP RECORD: 1-0-1 GAA: 2.85 SPCT: .886% TEAM RECORD: 1-0-1

#1 made 46 saves over the weekend for the Royals. He has appeared in all four games for Reading and is still undefeated in regulation. Hauser's stellar play earned him a call-up to the Royals AHL affiliate the Manchester Monarchs.

· Defenseman #6 Jon Zion leads all ECHL defensemen in scoring (3,4-7)...He is tied for first in goals scored (3) and tied for second in power play goals for (2)

· Left Wing #25 Brad Church is ranked first in shooting percentage in the ECHL (50%)
