Roadrunners Finish in Second Place; Will Host Calgary in First Round of Playoffs

Tucson, Arizona - The Tucson Roadrunners will host the Calgary Wranglers in the First Round of the 2024 Calder Cup Playoffs in a matchup solidified on the final day of the AHL's regular season after Colorado beat Ontario 6-3.

The Roadrunners will host all games in the Best-of-Three series at Tucson Arena starting Wednesday.

Wednesday, April 24 7 p.m.

Friday, April 26 7 p.m.

Tucson finished the regular season at second place in the AHL's Pacific Division with a 43-23-4-2 record and will host seventh place Calgary. The Roadrunners enter the AHL's postseason as the hottest team in the league without a regulation loss in seven-straight games at 6-0-1-0 since April 6. Tucson went 2-1-1-0 during the regular season against Calgary in the regular season and is 2-1-1-0 against Calgary at Tucson Arena since the Wranglers began playing in the AHL for the 2022-2023 season.

Arizona's Playoff Hockey Tradition returns as the Roadrunners and their fans will Whiteout Tucson Arena for all postseason action while the team dresses in their Black Kachina jerseys for all home playoff games.

Following the completion of the Arizona Coyotes regular season, the Roadrunners were assigned: Dylan Guenther, Josh Doan, Michael Kesselring, Aku Raty and Vlad Kolyachonok for the AHL playoffs. 19 total Roadrunners were recalled to the Coyotes during the 2023-2024 regular season.

In addition, today the Roadrunners were assigned Conor Geekie, who was drafted by Arizona 11th overall in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-4 Forward totaled 99 points in 55 games on 43 goals and 56 assists for Wenatchee and Swift Current in the Western Hockey League this season and just finished his Junior Hockey season in the second round of the playoffs; where he led the Broncos with six goals and three assists for nine points in nine games. He will join the Roadrunners for practice Monday and be available for his professional debut Wednesday.
