April 21, 2024 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY) - The Rochester Americans will face the Syracuse Crunch in the North Division Semifinals of the 2024 Calder Cup Playoffs.
The Amerks clinched second place in the American Hockey League's North Division standings by way of a 3-2 win over the Utica Comets earlier today in the 2023-24 regular season finale at Adirondack Bank Center, thus earning a first-round bye for the second straight year.
The second-round series will mark the sixth meeting in the postseason between the intrastate rivals and the second year in a row after Rochester defeated Syracuse three games to two during its historic run to the Eastern Conference Final last spring.
The Amerks secured their fifth straight playoff berth by virtue of Utica's overtime loss to Providence on April 12, marking the team's 49th appearance in the 68-year history of the franchise.
Rochester will host Games 1 and 2 of the best-of-five series on Friday, April 26 and Sunday, April 28 at The Blue Cross Arena. If necessary, the series will return to Rochester for a decisive Game 5 on Friday, May 10 at The Blue Cross Arena.
