Rampage Struggle in 6-1 Loss to Rockford
November 26, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
San Antonio Rampage News Release
ROCKFORD, IL (November 26, 2008) - Forward Jeff Hoggan scored San Antonio's lone goal and the Rampage fell to the Rockford IceHogs 6-1 Wednesday at the Rockford MetroCentre. It was the back end of a back-to-back and the Rampage found the road side rough.
Pascal Pelletier recorded a natural hat trick in the first period to stake the IceHogs to a 3-0 lead just 10:42 into the game. Pelletier scored his eighth, ninth and tenth goal before Hoggan's power-play goal cut the deficit to 3-1 with less than two minutes in the first.
After a scoreless second, Rockford found the net quickly when defenseman Andrew Archer pocketed his first goal of the season 1:39 into the third. Pelletier tacked on his fourth goal of the night less than a minute later on a power play to extend the IceHogs lead to 5-1. Center Mike Radja scored his second goal of the season to cap the scoring and give Rockford the 6-1 win.
Josh Tordjman went the distance in the net giving up six goals on 30 shots to pick up the loss and Corey Crawford stopped 26 of 27 to earn the win. In a penalty filled night, the AHL penalty-leading Rampage totaled 49 minutes on 12 infractions while the IceHogs earned 28 on 11 infractions.
San Antonio continued to score on the power play going one for six and Rockford finished two of five on the man advantage. Francis Lessard added to his AHL lead in penalty minutes with a robust 27.
Newly acquired Oren Eizenman tallied his second assist in as many games for the Rampage, who travel to Quad City for a Friday night tilt before heading back to San Antonio for an I-10 match-up with Houston.
Saturday's game is the 5th annual Salute to Badges Night honoring the city's finest, those who serve and those who have sacrificed. The Rampage will wear commemorative jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game. Join the Rampage for Salute to Badges and an Express-News Value night this Saturday at the AT&T Center. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
The loss extended both the franchise winless streak and losing streak to 15 and 11 games respectively.
