
Falcons Lose To Admirals 6-4

The Springfield Falcons lost to the Norfolk Admirals 6-4 on Wednesday night at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia. The Falcons have now lost two straight games and have a record of 9-6-2-1 on the season heading into Philadelphia on Friday.
The Falcons fell behind quickly on Wednesday night as Blair Jones opened the scoring for Norfolk at 1:46 of the first period, followed by Gilbert Brule's power play goal tying the score at 1-1 at 7:06 of the opening frame. Former Falcon Grant Potulny gave Norfolk a 2-1 lead with a power play marker at 16:46 of the first period, his first goal in his first game with the Admirals.
In the second period, Brandon Bochenski gave Norfolk a 3-1 lead with a power play goal just 49-seconds into the middle frame, but Slava Trukhno pulled the Falcons to within a single goal at 3:11 of the second period with a marker on the man advantage. Matt Smaby scored late in the second period giving the Admirals a 4-2 lead through 40 minutes of play.
The Falcons battled back in the third period as Colin McDonald scored his third goal of the year just 1:36 into the final frame cutting Springfield's deficit to 4-3, but Radek Smolenak scored less than a minute later giving Norfolk a 5-3 advantage. The Admirals built a 6-3 lead at 8:30 of the third period when Bochenski scored his second marker of the game. Mathieu Roy would get one back for Springfield late in the final period on the power play, but it was not enough for the Falcons on this night.
GAME NOTES
Former Falcon Grant Potulny made his Admirals debut and played against younger brother Ryan Potulny.
The Falcons were 3-11 on the power play, while Norfolk was 2-6 on the man advantage.
Viacheslav Trukhno (1g, 1a) and Gilbert Brule (1g, 1a) each had multi-point games.
