Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI- The Milwaukee Admirals scored a pair of power-play goals and Cal O'Reilly notched three assists to help the Ads defeat the Peoria Rivermen 4-1 Wednesday night at the Bradley Center.
The game started out in Peoria's advantage when a shot was taken by rightwing Nikolay Lemtyugov 4:21 into the period on a Rivermen power-play. Milwaukee netminder Drew MacIntyre had a bit of trouble holding onto the rebound as it popped out to leftwinger Jeff Cowan who was able to squeeze a forehand rebound past a sprawling MackIntyre. Lemtyugov and Jonas Junland picked up assists on the play.
The one goal lead wouldn't last long however, as Hugh Jessiman received a perfect pass in front of the net from Cody Franson at 12:32 of the period. The pass hit his tape and created a top shelf deflection for Jessiman's fourth goal of the season.
Stephen Werner gave the Admirals a lead that they wouldn't relinquish with 7:14 left in the first stanza. Forward Triston Grant carried the puck into the offensive zone and fired a shot right down the middle at Peoria goalie Marek Schwarz. He would save the initial shot, but Werner was racing in on him and he couldn't control his rebound in time as Werner slid it right between his legs. Andreas Thuresson would get his sixth assist of the season on the goal.
The Ads scoring trend would continue in the second period when Tim Ramholt scored his first goal as an Admiral just 2:20 into the frame. Cal O'Reilly gave Ramholt a crisp pass from low in the zone, and he was all alone on the point and fired a wrister that beat the lefty Schwarz glove side, giving the Ads a 3-1 lead. Patric Hornqvist also received an assist on the play.
Milwaukee cemented their lead 6:20 into the second when they took a three goal lead. O'Reilly passed the puck across the blueline to defenseman Cody Franson who then threw it cross ice to Mike Santorelli in front of the net. When Santorelli received the puck, it was on his backhand. Only a second later he was on the other side of the net with the puck on his forehand as he slid it past a diving Schwarz. It was Santorelli's third goal of the season, Franson's second assist of the night, and the Ads second power-play goal.
O'Reilly three assists paced the Milwaukee offense, while Drew MacIntyre anchored the defense with 14 saves to earn his eighth win of the season.
The Admirals hit the road tomorrow for a five-game swing through Texas and Canada before their next home game on Friday, December 12th at 7:00 pm versus the Rockford Ice Hogs at the Bradley Center.
