Ross Carlson Signs P.T.O with Rivermen

Peoria, Ill. (November 26, 2008) - Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today that the club has signed forward Ross Carlson to a professional try-out contract. Carlson is expected to be in the lineup tonight as the Rivermen are in Milwaukee for a game with the Admirals.

The Rivermen have also signed forward Jon Booras to a P.T.O from Bloomington (IHL).

Carlson, 26, has appeared in 14 games with the Florida Everblades (ECHL) this season and ranks second on his team in goals (7) assists (8) and points (15). He has recorded eight penalty minutes and has an impressive plus-11 rating (best on the team).

The 5-foot-11-inch, 186 pound forward has played in 23 career AHL games split between Providence, Rockford, and Houston. His most lengthy stint in the AHL was 16 games last season with the Aeros where he also appeared in four Calder Cup Playoff games. He has two goals and four assists at the AHL level.

Undrafted, Carlson played four years at the University of Wisconsin where he won an NCAA Championship with the Badgers in 2006. He scored his first AHL goal against the Rivermen on Dec. 29, 2007 while playing with the Rockford IceHogs.

The Rivermen take on the Admirtals tonight at 7:00 p.m. from the Bradley Center. The game will be broadcast on Hippie Radio 101.1 FM as well as online through www.rivermen.net.

The IceHogs will be at Carver Arena to take on the Rivermen at 7:00p.m. on Friday. Jennette McCurdy, who plays Sam on Nickelodeon's iCarly, will be signing autographs and meeting with fans beginning at 6:30p.m.
