(Rochester, November 26)... The Rochester Americans fell 3-1 to the Toronto Marlies this afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum. The 11:30 a.m. school-day game was the third of eight scheduled meetings between the two teams this season. Fans can tune into the taped-delayed broadcast starting at 7:00 p.m. on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and WHTK.com.
The loss was Rochester's seventh straight and now drops the Amerks to 0-3-0 this season and is 10-19-0 all-time against the Toronto Maple Leafs' affiliate.
Brad Boyce led the Marlies with two goals, including the game-winner and an insurance goal early in the third period. Justin Pogge earned the win in goal, making 17 saves. Rochester's Chris Beckford-Tseu stopped 33 of 36, while Franklin MacDonald netted the Amerks' lone goal to pick up his first of the season.
Toronto opened the scoring at 4:13 of the first with a power-play goal from Jeremy Williams. Kris Newbury and Jiri Tlusty earned assists.
In the second period, the teams traded shorthanded goal to send the game into the third with Toronto leading 2-1. MacDonald's shorthanded marker at 8:17 evened the game at one with Karl Stewart and Kenndal McArdle assisting. The game was Stewart's first game back after missing the previous eight with an injury. The Marlies, however, responded with a shorthanded tally at 10:24 from Boyce to regain the lead. Boyce added his second of the night at 2:59 of the third to hand Rochester its seventh straight loss.
