Albany Devils News Release

LOWELL, Mass. - Lowell Devils goalie Jeff Frazee made 40 saves for his first pro shutout and a 3-0 win over the Providence Bruins on Wednesday night at the Tsongas Arena. The win was the fourth straight for the Devils and third consecutive victory for Frazee.

After a scoreless first period, the Devils took a 1-0 lead exactly six minutes into the second on Nicklas Bergfors' heads-up pass. Gathering up a puck in his own zone, Bergfors fed the puck to the Bruins blueline that Wiseman took in for a breakaway and a backhander through the five-hole of Kevin Regan.

Lowell extended its lead at 9:46 of the same period with the only power play goal of the night. Alexander Vasyunov danced around two Providence defensemen and muscled a shot under the leg pad of Regan for his fifth goal of the season.

Frazee would hold the Bruins' offense at bay throughout the contest and received some added insurance in the third period from teammate Brad Mills. With 4:21 left in regulation, Mills rocketed a shot from the far circle that found the top shelf for his first goal of the season. The Devils - 4-for-4 on the penalty kill in the game - would hold off two late Providence power plays to preserve their first shutout of the year.

Lowell travels to battle the Portland Pirates on Saturday, November 29 at 7:00 p.m. and the Worcester Sharks on Sunday, November 30 at 4:05 p.m. The Devils return home to take on the Springfield Falcons on Wednesday, December 3 at 7:00 p.m. Listen to all of the action live on 980AM-WCAP and ahllive.com as Ryan Johnston brings you all of the play-by-play.
