Prince Albert Raiders News Release

Edmonton, Alberta - Dale Derkatch, Prince Albert Raiders Director of Player Personnel has selected defenceman Josh Morrissey from the Calgary Royals Gold with the teams' first selection, 6th overall at the Western Hockey League Bantam Draft in Edmonton this morning. The draft is continuing.

Morrissey, 5'11", 170 pounds, played in 32 games with the Royals Gold this season with 21 goals, 28 assists and 108 minutes in penalties. He was the TopDefenceman in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League South Division this season and played in the AMBHL All-Star Game in Edmonton in January.

"Josh Morrissey is a very strong skating, mobile defenceman," said Derkatch following the first round. "He plays the game with passion and desire with a very good work ethic. He was the Captain of his team this past season and we believe in the future he will be a leader for the Raiders and a guy that could quarterback the power play."

The Raiders next selection will be 28th overall, in the second round.
