Prince Albert Raiders News Release

Edmonton, Alberta - With the Prince Albert Raiders 3rd Round selection, 50th overall, Dale Derkatch, Director of Player Personnel picked left winger Michael Lorange from the Western Canadian Bantam Champion Winnipeg Monarchs at the WHL Bantam Draft in Edmonton this morning. The draft continues.

Lorange, 5'10", 170 pounds had 25 goals and 27 assists to go along with 40 minutes in penalties in 30 games for the Monarchs to lead them to a 26-4 record in the Winnipeg Bantam AAA league. At the Western Canadian Bantam Championships Lorange had 5 goals and an assist in 5 games and was named a 2nd Team All-Star.

"Michael Lorange is a big power winger with very good hands and a strong shot," said Derkatch from the draft floor. "He brings an element of grit, playing on the edge, that the Raiders need in our lineup."

Speaking on the second round selection, centre Luke Mahura from St. Albert, Derkatch said, "Luke is a very good skater that is strong on his feet. He is a true goal scorer who competes hard and has exceptional hockey sense."

In the first round they selected defenceman Josh Morrissey of Calgary 6th overall.

The Raiders are not schedule to pick in the fourth round, as that selection was traded to Portland in exchange for Colin Reddin this past season. The next pick for the Raiders will be in the 5th round, 94th overall.
