Kelowna Rockets News Release

Former Kelowna Rockets player Gavin McLeod was back in the WHL spotlight Wednesday as the 6-foot-5 defenceman was awarded the WHL Alumni Association Achievement award.

McLeod played for the Rockets from 1996-97 to 2000-01 before attending the University of Alberta through the WHL scholarship program.

McLeod played for the U of A Golden Bears for five seasons, ending his career in 2005-06.

"We're very proud of the route Gavin traveled after playing with the Rockets," said general manager Bruce Hamilton. "Playing Canadian university hockey is a great avenue for our players."

McLeod accepted his award at the annual WHL awards banquet.
