Buffalo Bisons News Release

BUFFALO, NY - An career day at the plate by Rafael Lantigua helped the Buffalo Bisons defeat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 10-1 on Saturday night at Sahlen Field. The Triple-A rookie drove in a season-high seven in the blowout victory.

The Bisons took advantage of a pair of first inning walks by Colton Eastman to score the game's first run and take a 1-0 lead against Lehigh Valley. Spencer Horwitz reached on a base hit and eventually scored when Lantigua was issued a bases loaded walk.

Yoshi Tsutsugo doubled the Buffalo lead to 2-0 with a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the second. It was Tsutsugo's first hit since joining the Bisons and his third Triple-A home run thanks to a handful of games for the Indianapolis Indians earlier in the year.

The Herd offense went to work in the bottom of the fifth inning scoring three times to balloon the lead to 5-0 over Lehigh Valley. Gabriel Moreno drove in his 30th RBI of the season, while Lantigua drilled a two-run double into right center field. Horwitz and Moreno both scored on the extra-base hit.

Bowden Francis worked a scoreless two innings in the start for Buffalo. Brandon Eisert and fellow lefty Tim Mayza followed with scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Mayza needed just 10 pitches as he works back from a dislocated right shoulder.

Hayden Juenger worked a pair of scoreless innings in relief. That included the young right hander striking out the side in order in the top of the sixth.

Lehigh Valley's first run of the game came on a Daniel Robertson opposite field home run that trimmed the deficit to 5-1 in the top of the seventh. The homer came off of Adrian Hernandez in his second outing off of the injured list.

Lantigua's biggest blow of the night came in the bottom of the eighth when his one-out grand slam off of Erik Miller extended Buffalo's lead to nine, 10-1. His seven RBI performance eclipsed the previous high of five set by Samad Taylor this season. The seven runs driven in were also a career high for Lantigua.

Zack Collins also had a season best five walks for the team, scoring a pair of runs in the win. Horwitz and Moreno each finished with three hits in the victory as well.

Buffalo has a chance to win the series against the IronPigs on Sunday afternoon. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. for the finale of the season series.
