Nailers Loan Garrett Meurs to Manitoba Moose

WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, have announced a transaction, which takes effect immediately. Wheeling has loaned forward Garrett Meurs to the Manitoba Moose of the AHL.

Meurs, 25, is playing in his fifth professional season, and has had great offensive success during his time in Wheeling. Garrett currently ranks second on the team with 36 points in 37 games, having accumulated 15 goals and 21 assists. Some of his brighter moments of the year include a pair of four-point games (one of which occurred on his birthday), two overtime goals, three multi-goal games, and a selection as ECHL Player of the Week during the first week of the campaign. The Ripley, Ontario native has appeared in 108 games with the Nailers since the start of last season, piling up 40 goals, 51 assists, 91 points, and 213 penalty minutes. He played in one AHL game with the Milwaukee Admirals last season, and has also seen time with the Lake Erie Monsters and San Antonio Rampage during his AHL career. In 277 career games as a pro, Meurs has totaled 76 goals, 86 assists, 162 points, and 407 penalty minutes.

The Manitoba Moose (affiliated with the Winnipeg Jets) currently own the second best record in the AHL, at 26-9-5, and will play host to the Texas Stars on Saturday night.
