Kansas City Mavericks News Release
INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Missouri Mavericks ranked first in six categories and were in the top three in a total of 15 different categories in the Central Hockey League's annual "Best of the Best" poll. All 18 CHL teams voted on the top three choices for each category ranging from best fans to hardest shooter. The Mavericks were represented well on and off the ice, including Best Fans in the CHL.
The Mavericks took home first-place honors in the categories of Best Goaltender (Robby Nolan), Best Fans, Best Game Notes, Best Team Website, Best Use of Social Media and Best On-Ice Promotions.
"We are very excited with best of the best," said Mavericks' President and General Manager Brent Thiessen. "I think it says a lot of Independence, the Independence Events Center, our staff and players, but most importantly the fans that support us."
"Best fans is quite an accomplishment and for our peers to come to Independence and vote our fans the best in the league along with other accolades the organization received with best website, social media and obviously Robby Nolan showing well," added Thiessen. "We are very happy for the entire organization."
The Mavericks were awarded with second-place in Best Press Box, Best Arena Music and Best City (Independence). Third-place honors were awarded to the Mavericks in Most Valuable to His Team (Robby Nolan), Best Goaltender in Shootouts (Robby Nolan), Hardest Working Team, Best Public Address Announcer (Steve Garrett), Best Cheerleaders/Dance Team (Filly Spirit Squad) and Most Attractive Place to Play (Independence).
The Mavericks take on the Colorado Eagles tonight at Independence Events Center.
