Wichita Thunder News Release
TULSA, OK- The Wichita Thunder defeated the Tulsa Oilers 3-2 in overtime at the BOK Center on Tuesday night.
Troy Schwab punched in the game-winner with 43 seconds left in overtime, sneaking the puck under left pad of Oilers' goaltender Trevor Cann from just outside the left post.
Mike Looby helped the Thunder get through regulation, scoring at 5:28 in the third to tie the game at 2-2. Looby carried the puck through the right circle and slipped it behind Cann after a pass from Steven Kaunisto.
With the game scoreless, John Mori gave Tulsa a 1-0 lead with a shorthanded goal at 7:58 in the second period. Mori came around the right post and poked the puck behind Marc-Antoine Gelinas for the goal. Aaron Davis tied it at 1-1 at the 13:10 mark, shooting over the left shoulder of Cann from the right side of the slot. Tulsa re-gained the lead when Tom Dignard stripped the puck at his own blue line and connected on the ensuing breakaway at 18:19.
Gelinas saved 25 of 27 to earn the win. Cann took the loss, saving 36 of 39. Each team was 0 for 3 on the power play.
