Mallards Recognized in CHL's "Best of the Best" Poll

MOLINE, Ill. (March 8, 2011)- The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League have been voted among the top teams in the league in a series of on- and off-ice categories in the CHL's just-released "Best of the Best" poll.

The Mallards were recognized as one of the hardest working teams in the league, while the Flock's David Brown was voted one of the top goaltenders in the CHL in a wide-ranging survey of the league's players, coaches and operations staff. The Mallards were also lauded for their outstanding on-ice promotions, in-game music selection and use of social media tools as well as for wearing one of the best uniforms in the league.

Coach Frank Anzalone's Flock finished second in the voting for Hardest Working Team. The Mallards, who Sunday night clinched a playoff spot, have gone 31-26-1 this season and have totaled 63 points after 58 games.

Brown, who finished third in Best Goaltender balloting, leads the league in save percentage (.931), ranks second in goals against average (2.26) and is tied for third in shutouts (3). Brown has been called up to the American Hockey League on four separate occasions this season.

The Mallards finished second in the voting for Best Use of Social Media and ranked third in Best Uniforms, Best On-Ice Promotions and Best Arena Music.

The Mallards return to action at home Friday night at 7:05 p.m. against the Evansville IceMen. All fans attending Friday evening's game will receive free Mallards posters courtesy of Fox 18, Q106.5 and The Dispatch & The Rock Island Argus.
