Bucks Fall to Sundogs, 2-1

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Arizona Sundogs 2-1 Tuesday night at Laredo Energy Arena. The loss drops the Bucks five points back of the Sundogs for the final playoff spot in the Berry Conference with eight games remaining. Laredo falls to 20-30-8 (48 points).

Levente Szuper stopped 34 of 35 shots as the Sundogs snapped a 12-game road losing streak. Arizona picked up their first road win since December 11th.

Luke Erickson scored the game-winning goal to put the Sundogs 2-1 at the 9:24 mark of the third period when he scored on a rebound from the top of the left circle. The goal was Erickson's team-leading 36th of the season.

The Sundogs (22-27-9) jumped out in front of the Bucks with 8:53 left in the first period when Jason Visser scored on a rebound from the bottom of the right circle. The tally was Visser's seventh of the season.

The Bucks would get the equalizer to tie the game with just 46 seconds left in the first when Daniel Koger picked up the pick in the corner and scored on a backhander from the slot. The strike was Koger's team-leading 26th of the season.

Laredo outshot Arizona 19-12 in the first period.

Neither team was able to light the lamp in the second period as the game was tied at 1-1 heading into the third period.

Arizona outshot Laredo 11-6 in the second period.

Laredo outshot Arizona 10-7 in the third period and for the game 35-30.

Torrie Jung suffered the loss as he set aside 28 of 30 shots in the Bucks net.

Laredo falls to 6-10-8 in one-goal games this season.

The Bucks, along with Constable Rudy Rodriguez, Border Media and L & F Distributors raised $12,000 for STARS (South Texas Academic Rising Scholars) through ticket sales to Tuesday's game.

BES ACTIVATED FROM IR

Prior to Tuesday's game the Bucks activated Jeff Bes from the 10-day IR and placed Reid Edmondson on the 10-day IR with an upper-body injury.

Bes missed the Bucks last five games with an upper-body injury and has 54 points (20-3454) in 52 games this season.

Edmondson has 15 points (10-515) in 53 points this season.

BUCKS' PLACE TWO IN BEST OF THE BEST POLL

Tuesday morning the Central Hockey League announced results in the annual " Best of the Best poll". The Bucks were represented in two categories with Aaron Boogaard placing second in best heavyweight fighter and Neil Trimm placing third in best stick handler.

Voting was done by CHL coaches and communication staffs throughout the league.

BUCKS JOB FAIR FRIDAY

The Bucks will host a job fair presented by the Laredo chamber of commerce and Staff Connection on Friday March 11th at Laredo Energy Arena.

The job fair, which runs from 12-4pm in the LEA concourse, is FREE and open to everyone. Companies from several different industries will be represented and everyone who attends will have a chance to win TWO FREE TICKETS to the Bucks game later that night against the Missouri Mavericks. GRENVILLE HALL OF FAME NIGHT SATURDAY

The Bucks will induct two-time CHL All-Star Chris Grenville as the first member of the Bucks Hall of Fame on March 12th when the Bucks host Arizona at Laredo Energy Arena. The first 1,000 fans to enter the LEA will receive a FREE Chris Grenville Hall of Fame replica plaque.

In October Grenville received the most votes out of all of the Bucks' Legends who were eligible to make the Hall of Fame. The voting was comprised of the Bucks fan vote on Legends Night and Bucks front office staff.

Grenville, with his family on hand, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at a special ceremony during the game that night.

Grenville is one of the greatest players in Laredo Bucks history. Grenville, an original Buck, played three seasons in Laredo from 2002-2004 and 2005-06 and helped lead the franchise to two CHL President's Cup Championships.
