Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
The Central Hockey League's Best of the Best Awards for the 2010-11 season were announced this morning with the Killer Bees collecting victories in five different categories and placing in the top three in an additional six categories.
The categories that the Bees won this year include Best Defensive Forward won by Zak McClellan, Best Offensive Defenseman won by Darcy Campbell and Best Rookie won by Aaron Lewicki. The Best Rookie award won by Lewicki was by the largest margin in the 50 categories as Lewicki claimed the prize by a 34 point difference.
"We are pleased that our peers in the CHL have recognized Zak, Darcy, and Aaron for their impressive accomplishments this season." said Killer Bees Head Coach Chris Brooks. "All three players have been instrumental to our success this season."
The Bees also collected awards in an additional two categories including Best Mascot won by Sir-Sting-A-Lot for an impressive third year in a row and the Best Host Hotel won by the Embassy Suites of McAllen.
"Sir-Sting-A-Lot is such an important part of making Killer Bees games as fun and as popular as they are and him claiming the title for a third year in a row is testament to that. We are also very pleased that the Embassy Suites of McAllen was honored for Best Host Hotel and I'm sure they are very proud of that award," said Killer Bees General Manager Dan Belisle.
