
Americans Slip in Third Period, Fall to Jacks 5-2

ODESSA, Texas- The Allen Americans fell to the Odessa Jackalopes Tuesday night, 5-2 in front of at Ector County Colliseum.
The Jacks got on the board first, with a Mark Ehl goal 8 minutes into the game. Sebastien Thinel scored a power play goal just over 17 minutes into the first frame to make it 2-0 Odessa. Todd Robinson and Matt Gens assisted on the Thinel tally.
Odessa extended its lead just 15-seconds into the second period with a Luke Stauffacher goal.
David Nimmo finally got the Americans offense going with a goal at 15:44 via the penalty shot.
Through two periods of play, Odessa goaltender Mike Mole had stopped 23 out-of 24 Allen shots, while Chris Whitley was 17-for-20 at the opposite end.
11:25 into the third, David Strathman scored his 13th goal of the season to make it 3-2 in favor of Odessa.
Special teams would doom the Americans in the end, however, as Mike Ramsay's shorthanded marker at 12:48 was quickly followed up by a Jeff Pierece power play goal. The two-goal spurt made it a 5-2 game, which would be how the game would end.
With the loss, the Americans fall to 41-14-2 on the season, while Odessa moves to within a game of .500 at 25-26-6.
Allen hits the road Friday night to take on the Texas Brahmas at 7:30 PM. Fans are encouraged to visit Boston's The Gourmet Pizza on 121 in McKinney for the watching party.
Saturday night the Americans will return home to face the Wichita Thunder at 7:00 PM. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free koozie, courtesy of Dr. Ross J. Miller. Sunday afternoon the Bloomington PrairieThunder will be at the Allen Event Center once again for a 2:00 PM puck drop. All fans in attendance will receive an Allen Americans Ice Angels poster. Following the game, Ice Angels and players will be at Boston's for a post game meet-and-greet. All fans are invited to attend.
