Odessa Jackalopes News Release
ODESSA, TX - Mike Ramsay's shorthanded goal and Mike Mole's 33 saves led the Odessa Jackalopes to a 5-2 win over the Allen Americans on Tuesday night at the Ector County Coliseum. With the win, Odessa passes the Mississippi Riverkings to take over fifth place in the CHL's Berry Conference.
Ramsay's shorthanded goal was his team-leading 29th of the season, and extended his point streak to a team-high 12 games.
Odessa jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening period as Mark Ehl deflected one home 8:51 into the game, and Sebastien Thinel added another on the man-advantage with 2:26 to play. Thinel's goal pushed his league-leading point total to 92 on the year.
Luke Stauffacher scored an Odessa goal for the third straight game just 15 seconds into period two with a deflection in front of the net. David Nimmo put Allen on the board with a penalty shot goal late in the middle frame.
David Strathman made it a 3-2 game for Allen midway through the third period before Odessa pulled away on Ramsay's shorthanded breakaway. Jeff Pierce also added a power play goal for the Jacks with 5:24 to play to cement the final score.
Mole picked up his second win on the season since joining Odessa last week. Chris Whitley made 21 saves in a losing effort for Allen.
The Jackalopes host the Bloomington PrairieThunder this weekend for a pair of games starting Friday. Game time is set for 7:05 PM CST. The action can be heard on Classic Rock 102.1 FM.
