Arizona Sundogs News Release
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Central Hockey League today released its annual 'Best of the Best' poll and the Arizona Sundogs received mention in seven total categories.
The poll, issued to all 18 CHL member clubs, identifies the top three players or organizations in 50 categories as voted on by coaching staffs, players and front office personnel.
Fourth-year pro and alternate captain Kyle Hood was recognized in the 'Most Underrated Player' category, finishing second behind Odessa's Mike Ramsay.
For the first time in four years, the Sundogs were knocked from the top spot in the 'Best Website' category by the Missouri Mavericks (www.missourimavericks.com). The Sundogs' website ranked third in the annual poll while the Allen Americans (www.allenamericans.com) finished second in voting.
The Sundogs' communications staff also received a nod in the 'Best Game Notes' category, finishing third behind Missouri and the Mississippi RiverKings.
Second-year forward and CHL All-Star Joey Sides also received mention in the poll, ranking second in 'Best Penalty Killer' voting behind the RiverKings' Louis Dumont.
Enforcer Adam Smyth was recognized in the 'Most Annoying Player' category, finishing second behind David Rutherford (Bossier-Shreveport).
The Town of Prescott Valley figured into the poll for the second consecutive year, occupying the number three spot in the 'Best City' category, and the team's Official Hotel, The Hampton Inn and Suites, received a second-place nod in the poll's 'Best Host Hotel' category.
