Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League were again represented in this year's Central Hockey League "Best of the Best" poll, an annual survey done by league members to determine their favorites in 50 different areas, from best overall player, best body checker and best fighter pound-for-pound, to best arena, arena concessions, host hotel and booster club.

A detailed story about the "Best of the Best" poll is being published today in the Fort Wayne News Sentinel. It was written by the News-Journal's Blake Sebring and found on line at http://www.news-sentinel.com/.

The three areas where the Mississippi RiverKings were represented in the Best of the Best were best penalty killer, best offensive defenseman, and best game notes.

Forward Louis Dumont of the RiverKings was named the top penalty killer in the CHL, earning five first place votes in the balloting. In his fifth season with the RiverKings, Dumont is currently fourth of the team roster for points with 14 goals for 43 points and is also one of three players tied for the league lead in shorthanded goals scored with five.

Nathan Lutz of the RiverKings was listed second in the list of best offensive defensemen, receiving two first-place votes, five second-place votes, and one third-place vote. A first-year RiverKing, Lutz is tied for the team lead in points with 48 and leads Mississippi in assists with 38. He's also among the league leaders in several areas, including goals by a defenseman, assists by a defenseman, and power play assists. Lutz was named a starter for the CHL All-Star game played in Rapid City, South Dakota, where he aided the All-Stars 11-6 victory over the host Rapid City Rush and scored a goal in the contest.

The RiverKings also received a second-place nod by league teams for best pre-game media notes, provided by Media Coordinator Bob Bakken, thanks to four first-place votes, three second place votes, and one third-place vote. Bakken, in his third year with the RiverKings, also broadcasts home and away games on the radio and Internet and earlier this year was named one of the CHL All-Star Game broadcasters for the annual classic played in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Next action for the Mississippi RiverKings will come Thursday night, when they host the Dayton Gems at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, beginning at 7:05 PM. Tickets for all RiverKings games are available and for more information, call 662-342-1755 or go online to www.riverkings.com today!
