Mavericks Rout Fuel for Third Win of Road Trip

Kansas City Mavericks News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Missouri Mavericks bounced back from Tuesday's loss in Orlando with a resounding 6-1 win on Saturday night against the Indy Fuel. The win was Missouri's third in the first four games of its five-game road trip and improved the Mavericks' record to 7-8-1 on the season.

The Mavericks had scored first in each of their prior two games but could never extend the early lead past one in those games. Tonight was different, though, as Dan Correale staked the Mavericks to a 1-0 lead 2:25 into the game and Lukas Lofquist followed exactly seven minutes later. For Correale it was his second goal in as many nights and Lofquist potted his fifth of the year as both goals were scored from close range. Correale's period got more eventful late in the frame as he dropped the gloves with Indy's Brady Ramsay. Josh Robinson made his second straight start in goal and turned away each of the seven shots he faced in the first.

Prior to tonight, the Mavericks had been out-scored 20-9 in the second period, but they turned the tables in this one by netting a pair and keeping Indy off of the board. The very first shift of the period generated three good chances for the Mavericks but Indy goalie Eric Levine held the fort early on. Missouri finally broke through 8:33 into the frame when Lofquist sent a wrist shot top shelf for his second of the night. Later Correale finished off his Gordie Howe Hat Trick (a goal, assist and fight in the same game) by teaming up with Luke Juha to set up Rocco Carzo's fifth goal of the season. The goal came with just 3:30 left in the middle frame. Again Robinson stopped seven shots in the period to keep Indy off of the scoreboard.

Indy chipped into the Mavericks' lead 3:30 into the third when Matt Stanisz beat Robinson
