LOVELAND, CO. - Jesse Mychan scored two goals, but a Rapid City rally would erase a 3-1 Colorado lead in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Rush on Friday. The Eagles earned a point in the standings in the loss and now have points in five of their last seven games.

Rapid City jumped on top early when forward Josh MacDonald beat Eagles goaltender Clarke Saunders from the low-slot to give the Rush the 1-0 edge just 1:58 into the contest. Colorado would answer back, as forward Casey Pierro-Zabotel lit the lamp with a shot from the top of the crease to knot the game at 1-1 at the 11:55 mark of the first period. The Eagles would claim their first lead of the night when Mychan bulled his way between the circles and beat Rush goalie Adam Morrison five-hole to make it 2-1 with 3:54 left in the opening stanza.

Heading into the second period, Colorado would extend their lead to 3-1 when Mychan snapped a wrister into the back of the net at the 3:40 mark of the middle frame. The Rush would throw the brakes on the Eagles offensive attack less than five minutes later, when forward Nick Miglio jammed home a puck in the crease to cut the Eagles advantage to 3-2.

What was once a two-goal advantage would slip away in the third period when Rush forward Brett Perlini swept a puck from slot past Saunders to tie the game at 3-3 just 1:50 into the final period of regulation.

With 60 minutes of regulation unable to settle the contest, the Eagles and Rush would head to overtime for a second straight game. Despite both teams generating multiple chances in the extra session, neither team would notch a goal, sending the game into a shootout.

Morrison would deny three of the Eagles four shooters in the shootout, while forwards Lindsay Sparks and Mark Cooper both found the back of the net for Rapid City to give the Rush the 4-3 victory.

The Eagles close out a two-game homestand against the Rapid City Rush on Saturday, November 26th at 7:05pm MT.
