LOVELAND, CO. - The Colorado Eagles would rally from a 1-0 deficit in the first period to defeat the Rapid City Rush 2-1 in overtime on Saturday. Goaltender Clarke Saunders stopped 33 of the 34 shots he faced in the contest, while forward Josh Nicholls scored his first goal as an Eagle in overtime to give Colorado the win.

Rapid City would be first to light the lamp when defenseman Michael Young let loose a shot from the blue line that weaved its way through traffic in front of the net to beat Saunders and give the Rush the 1-0 lead at the 10:44 mark of the first period.

Colorado would find an answer less than five minutes later on the penalty kill, as forward Matt Garbowsky fielded a pass from fellow forward Ryan Harrison in the low-slot, snapping it into the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1 with 4:51 remaining in the opening frame. The goal was Colorado's fifth shorthanded marker of the season.

Saunders would turn aside all 15 of Rapid City's shots in the second period and 10 more shots from the Rush in the third frame, forcing overtime for the third consecutive game. Just 1:26 into the extra session, forward Cole Sanford forced a turnover at center ice, sending Nicholls racing down the ice on a breakaway, where he would beat Rush goalie Adam Morrison to give Colorado the 2-1 victory.

The night also saw Eagles fans help to raise over $46,000 for a variety of local children's charities during the annual "Stick Up for Kids" fundraiser, presented by the UPS Stores of Fort Collins. Eagles players used specially designed sticks during Saturday's game, which were auctioned off throughout the evening to help in the effort.

The Eagles kick-off a two-game road trip against the Adirondack Thunder on Friday, December 1st at 5:00pm MT.
