Wichita Thunder News Release
Tulsa, OK (Nov. 26th) - Alexis Loiseau recorded his team-leading 13th of the season, but the Thunder fell on Saturday night in a shootout at Tulsa by the final score of 2-1.
Loiseau scored the only goal of the first period at the eight minute mark. He took a pass at center, skated away from the Oilers' defenseman and beat Jamie Phillips through the legs to make it 1-0.
The two teams skated to a draw in the second frame. Tulsa outshot the Thunder 12-6 and had the only power play of the period.
In the third, Loiseau was close to adding his second of the game as he stepped away on another break. His wrist shot was stopped by the left pad of Phillips to keep it a 1-0 contest. The Oilers caught a break when Ian Lowe was called for slashing with six minutes left. Tulsa cashed in when Christophe Lalancette's shot got redirected by Adam Pleskach past Drew Owsley and tied the game at one. The contest remained tied down the stretch and headed into overtime.
After a five-minute overtime, the two teams needed a shootout. Alexis Loiseau, Gabriel Gagne and Nick Trecapelli were denied for Wichita. Ben Murphy scored in round two and the Oilers snagged the shootout victory.
Wichita played past regulation for the first time this season. Loiseau is tied for the league-lead with 13 goals and has five goals in his last four games. Trecapelli added an assist and has helpers in four of the last five contests (4a). Owsley suffers the shootout loss, stopping 38 of 39 shots. Phillips grabs the win, stopping 21 of 22 shots he faced.
Wichita went 0-for-1 on the man advantage. Tulsa was 1-for-4 on the power play.
The Thunder heads out to the Black Hills for the first time this season to face Rapid City next Friday and Saturday night at 8:05 p.m.
