
Grrrowl lose to Florida, snap 5-game skid with win over Augusta

The Greenville Grrrowl's losing streak reached a season-high 5 games when they suffered a 4-1 loss to the Florida Everblades on Thursday. On Saturday, the Grrrowl scored two goals in the final 5:29 of the third period, and beat the Augusta Lynx 2-1. Martin Masa's game-winning goal was scored with no time left on the clock.
THURSDAY: George Awada and Tom Buckley scored shorthanded goals for the Florida Everblades who dealt the Grrrowl a 4-1 loss in front of 4056 at the BI-LO Center. Former Everblades forward MATT DEMARSKI scored Greenville's only goal at 11:37 of the second period. The Grrrowl outshot the Everblades 31-24.
SATURDAY: The Lynx outshot the Grrrowl 19-6 in the first period, and opened a 1-0 lead when Josh St Louis beat MICHAEL GARNETT at 18:10 of the first period. TYLER DEIS tied the game at one with 5:29 remaining in regulation, then assisted on MARTIN MASA's game-winner at 19:59 of the third period. The Lynx outshot Greenville 33-26.

The captain of the Greenville Grrrowl scored the game-tying goal against Augusta with just 5:29 remaining in the third period on Saturday. Then, sent a pass out of the corner to Martin Masa who scored the game-winner at 19:59 of the third period. The Calgary, Alberta native recorded 2 points in 2 games last week (1-1-2 pts.)
GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK â MICHAEL GARNETT
The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native stopped 32 of 33 shots in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Augusta Lynx at the BI-LO Center... Garnett is now 4-4-0 with 3.68 GAA in 8 games... he was an Atlanta Thrashers 3rd round pick (80th overall) in 2001... he turns 20 years old today â Monday November 25th.
THIS WEEK â What holiday? The Grrrowl prepare for four games in five nights! The Greenville Grrrowl host a pair of games before Thanksgiving against South Carolina on Wednesday (7:05 pm) and after the holiday against Richmond on Friday (7:35 PM). Then it's a pair of road games at South Carolina on Saturday (7:30 PM) and Sunday afternoon at Columbia (4:05 PM). Note, Sunday's game in Columbia was originally scheduled for 7:05 PM.
WED. 11/27 vs. S.C. â The Grrrowl and Stingrays battle in the 3rd of 9 regular season meetings... South Carolina spoiled Greenville's home-opener (10/12) by erasing a three goal, third period deficit in a 7-6 SOW... In the only other meeting (10/22) Dave Seitz scored the game-winning goal on a penalty shot in a 4-2 win at SC...NEXT MEETING: This Sunday (11/30) at the North Charleston Coliseum (7:30 PM).
FRI. 11/29 vs. RMD â Greenville hosts the Richmond Renegades in the first of 3 regular season meetings... Richmond is the top team in the Northeast Division at 12-8-0, 24 pts... they are 7-2-0 at home, but just 5-6-0 on the road... Jonathan Zion is tied for 5th in scoring amongst ECHL defenseman (3-12-15 pts.)... Richmond's PP is second in the Northern Conference at 85.1%... they've scored a league-high 6 SHG's... NEXT MEETING: 1/12 @ Richmond.
SAT. 11/30 @ SC â It's the second meeting in 4 days for these Southeast Division rivals (4th of 9 meetings this season)... entering the week, the Stingrays had the league's penalty minute leader, Brent Henley, with 133... they are 4-0 in shootouts... they are second in the league averaging 3.83 goals per game... SUN. 12/1 @ CBA â The 3rd of 9 regular season meetings... The Inferno are a perfect 6-0-0 at the Carolina Coliseum... Rejean Stringer is fourth in league scoring with 27 pts. in 17 games, while Justin Morrison is tied for 6th in the league with 25 pts. in 15 games... they have the best PK in the ECHL at 94.8%...
