Idaho Steelheads News Release

BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads laid to rest any doubts about beating Fresno after two convincing wins on Friday (6-0), and Saturday (2-1). Idaho surrendered the Taylor Cup last season to the Falcons on home ice in Game 6 of the finals, and then lost all three games earlier this season in Fresno. Blair Allison (6-1-1) was perfect in net on Friday and recorded his second shutout of the season. Saturday night, Jason Cugnet (6-3-1) made 28 saves to earn his 6th win on the season.

OF NOTE: Idaho improved its record of 12-4-2 (26 points), keeping them in first place in the WCHL. Each of Idaho's losses has come on the road; the Steelheads remain perfect at home. The Steelheads lead the league in goals (60), assists (96), points (156), and power play goals (24.8%)

TOP OF THEIR LEAGUE: Joe Rybar (6-14-20) is tied for the league lead in scoring, with Aces' Yvan Corbin, with 20 points. Marty Flichel is second in goals scored at 10. ROOKIES: Steelheads rookies are fairing well with Derrick Atkinson (3-3-6) leading the league in power play goals with 3, and third in the league in points with 6. Martin Vasut (1-6-7) is leading all rookies in assists with 6.

UP NEXT: The Steelheads welcome the Anchorage Aces to the Bank of America Centre for a holiday homestand on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday (7:00 p.m. start for all games.) The Steelheads beat the Aces on October 11th and 12th to start their undefeated streak at home.
