
Men O\' War Split with I-75 Rivals

Lexington, KY- The Lexington Men O' War defeated Dayton on Friday night 4-2 to finish up their week. Earlier in the week the MOW fell in Cincinnati 6-1 to the Cyclones. This week the Men will head back to Dayton for a Thanksgiving celebration on Thursday. Saturday Lexington will host the Roanoke Express for the first time ever.
Wednesday, November 20th â MOW 1, at Cincinnati 6
The Cincinnati Cyclones jumped all over the Lexington Men O' War early and often on the way to a 6-1 win over Lexington. Cincinnati goalie Greg Hewitt stuffed the Men with 38 saves and Matt Noga recorded a goal and three assists in the Cincinnati win. The Men would get themselves on the board in the middle frame. Mark Smith and Van Burgess continued their great play. The two cycled the puck in the near Cyclone corner with Burgess finding Justin Van Parys coming in the back door side for the one time goal. Van Parys' goal trimmed the Cyclone lead to 4-1 after two periods of play.
Friday, November 22ndâ MOW 4 at Dayton 2
Chapter Three of the Lexington Men O' War and Dayton Bombers rivalry continued last night in Dayton with the Men winning 4-2 over. Joe Vandermeer led the way for the MOW with one goal and two assists. Goalie Dan Murphy also came up big with 38 saves as Lexington moved to 3-0 against their I-75 rivals. The Men won't play again until Thanksgiving Day when they meet the same Dayton Bombers for Chapter 4.
The Series
Lexington will meet the Dayton Bombers for the second time in less than a week. The MOW have beaten Dayton in all three previous meetings so far this season. In the three games the MOW defense has kept the Bombers offense in check. Dayton has only scored three goals in three games. Lexington goalie Dan Murphy is 2-0-0 with a 1.50 goals against average. The MOW have outscored the Bombers 8-3 in the series. In three games the two teams have combined for 227 penalty minutes. Game five will be December 8th in Lexington.
Upcoming Games ......
Besides facing Dayton on Thanksgiving Day, the Men O' War will host the Roanoke Express on Saturday night at 7:30. Roanoke is making their only trip to Lexington this season. Lexington will head to Roanoke for the only other meeting of the season on Saturday, December 28th at Roanoke. The Express are led in scoring by Jason Jaffray who has 25 points in 17 games. Jaffray also leads all rookies in the ECHL for scoring with 10 goals and 15 assists. The Express host Reading on Thursday and Columbia on Friday before heading to Lexington.
