Johnstown Chiefs News Release
The Johnstown Chiefs (8-10-1; 17 PTS NW div.) continued to struggle at home last week losing to the Peoria Rivermen twice at the War Memorial last Friday and Saturday night. The Chiefs were able to pick up a much needed two points with a 5-2 win Sunday night at Dayton. Once again this week the Chiefs will play three games in three nights beginning Thanksgiving at Wheeling. The Chiefs return for a pair of home games Friday and Saturday versus Wheeling and Greensboro respectively.
GAME #17 (11/22/02) Peoria 4 â JOHNSTOWN 3 Courchesne Two Goals
The Chiefs had three leads during the game and were not able to hold on as the visiting Peoria Rivermen scored three 3rd period goals and prevail 4-3. P.L. Courchesne scored two goals, while Steve Hildenbrand also scored for the Chiefs. Mark Scally made 21 saves for his first loss of the season.
GAME #18 (11/23/02) Peoria 6 â JOHNSTOWN 3 Leger Two Goals
Peoria Rivermen forward Trevor Baker had two goals and an assist to lead them 6-3 win over the Chiefs Saturday night at the War Memorial Arena. The Chiefs were down 4-1 in the third period before they rallied back to close the gap 4-3 with goals by Sam St. Pierre and Jim Leger. Then Peoria exploded with goals by Kevin Granato and Brendan Brooks 0:54 apart. Tyler Rennette also scored for the Rivermen. Leger also had a second period goal for the Chiefs. All three Johnstown goals came on the power play. Duane Derksen (5-4-1) picked up his second win in as many nights making 28 saves, while Johnstown goaltender Peter Aubry (3-4-0) suffered the loss making 17 saves.
GAME #19 (11/24/02) Johnstown 6 â DAYTON 3 Aubry 50 Saves
The Chiefs snapped a two game losing skid with a 6-3 win at Dayton on Sunday night. Sam St. Pierre lead the Chiefs offense with a goal and two assists. J.F. Boutin, Andy Doktorchik, Dmitri Tarabrin, and Jim Leger also scored for the Chiefs. Peter Aubry played strong in goal for the Chiefs making 50 saves.

The Chiefs and the Wheeling Nailers (8-12-1, 17 PTS; 5th NW div.) meet in a home and home series beginning Thanksgiving night at Wheeling. Friday night the two teams will face each other in Johnstown. The Chiefs are 0-1-0 against the Nailers this season. The Nailers won the only game of the season series, 4-1 at Johnstown on November 8th. The Chiefs are 52-54-14 all-time against the Nailers. The Nailers are 5-4-1 in their last ten games and have a 3-8-0 road record.

The Greensboro Generals (9-5-3, 21 PTS; 4th NE div.)come to Johnstown for the first of two times this season. The Chiefs were 1-0-0 (6-1; 3/30/02) against the Generals last season. The Chiefs are 5-2-2 all-time against Greensboro. This is only the second non- northwest division game for Chiefs this season. Greensboro has not made the playoffs in their three seasons in the ECHL.

- The Chiefs have won two road games in a row.
- Lukas Smital has recorded an assist is six straight games.
- The Chiefs have been out scored 38-28 at home this season.
- Peter Aubry is 3-1-1 with a 1.72 GAA and a 0.957 save percentage on the road this season.
- Jim Leger and Dominic Forget each have 3 goals in their last five games.
